The Appenzeller Sennenhund is a short haired, medium size cattledog used as a home guard and herder. It is a strong dog, self-assured and reliable, high spirited, quick learning and fearless. They are very athletic and must be regularly challenged with exercise and jobs. A great dog for an outdoors person who enjoys hiking and climbing. Probably too energetic for small children. They shed.
