The Silky TerrierToy

The lovable Silky Terrier is an energy machine who will explore every nook and cranny. And, when he runs out of nooks and crannies he will dig to find more. They have the independent spirit of the terrier. They get along with children that they've grown up with but will not tolerate rough handling. A great barker for a watchdog but sometimes need to have an on/off switch. Not a great dog with other pets unless they were raised with the Silky as a puppy. A large dog in a small dog's body, and they may pick a fight regardless of the size of the other dog. Very happy and joyful. Good for apartments, but will not be a couch potato. Likes walks and probably has more staying power than you would expect. Loves to run outdoors but should be in a confined yard. The Silky should be brushed on a weekly basis, or as dictated by their activity. They shed very little.

We STRONGLY recommend that you get your dog from a respectable breeder or rescue organization. Pet stores and Internet sellers may get their dogs from Puppy Mills that normally breed only for profit, not quality or concern for the puppy or its eventual owner.
If you would like help locating a breeder or rescue agency near you please E-Mail PGAA ( ita408@comcast.net), and let us know your city/state and the type of dog you are looking for. Do not assume that PGAA has qualified all of the breeders or rescues on this site. Do your own check of each breeder or rescue -- be sure that you are comfortable with the organization before you buy, adopt or turn-over a dog. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
