Tylenal Warning for Dogs
The October 2000 issue of Dog Watch, the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine's Newsletter, reports on an article published in February, 2000 in the journal Compendium titled "Acetaminophen toxicity in cats and dogs." Large doses of acetaminophen (the active ingredient in Tylenol), (15-20 tablets) can cause liver damage, and most cases seem to be caused by "accidental" ingestion -- from the garbage or improperly stored or open bottles.
If you suspect your dog ingested acetaminophen (abdominal pain is a symptom), immediately take him to your Vet.
KEEP ALL MEDICINE CONTAINERS TIGHTLY SEALED AND OUT OF REACH.
