The Abyssinian

The Abyssinian was brought from Abyssinia by the British (although that may not be the actual country of origin), and became a recognized breed in 1882. Sleek, lithe and high spirited with dense, silky and lustrous, ticked coat. A long, tapering tail Elegant and regal. Large ears and almond shaped, lightly highlighted eyes of green or gold.. Its head is somewhere between round and wedge-shaped and, in profile, can resemble a cougar.

  • BREED TYPE: Not confirmed, possibly man-made.

  • BODY TYPE: Semi-Foreign

  • COAT TYPE: Shorthair

  • SIZE: Medium

  • TEMPERAMENT: High spirited and intelligent; inquisitive and loyal. Soft-spoken. It is loving, personable, and wants a lot of attention. Gets along well with children and other pets. It is not a "lap" cat.

  • COLORS: Lavender, blue, chocolate, black silver, fawn, sorrel ruddy and sorrel silver.
