Glen of Imaal Terrier

Terrier Group

Glen of Imaal Terriers from the site of Jermie Putnam and Ed Rudolph

The Glen of Imaal Terrier was approved for AKC registration as of July 1, 2004.  It is a feisty, cocky and loyal little dog that loves to be a part of the family.  They are excellent with children.  This terrier may want to be “cock of the walk” with other pets, and will do its best to hunt down smaller rodent-type housemates.  To hear the Glen of Imaal Terrier is to expect a much larger dog, so they provide a good watchdog service.  The Glen of Imaal will adjust to the routine of its family, and little exercise is required, even though they love walks.  They need only routine brushing.

We STRONGLY recommend that you get your dog from a respectable breeder or rescue organization.  Pet store puppies may get their dogs from Puppy Mills that normally breed only for profit, not quality or concern for the puppy or its eventual owner.
If you would like help locating a breeder or rescue agency near you please E-Mail PGAA (, and let us know your city/state and the type of dog you are looking for.  Do not assume that PGAA has qualified all of the breeders or rescues on this site.  Do your own check of each breeder or rescue — be sure that you are comfortable with the organization before you buy, adopt or turn-over a dog.
