Dogs are amazing companions because they will always be able to cheer you up after a tough day. Scientific studies have actually proven that dogs make their owners happier and healthier . If you are not happy with the basic health benefits of owning a dog, then you can always choose to take them along while you exercise. It will also let the dog burn off some of their extra energy. Here are five fun exercises you must do with your dog.

If you love going on a run in the morning, then you need to put the dog on the leash the next time you go around the block. Dogs are naturally able to run long distances, so they will have no problem keeping up with your pace throughout the entire run. Small-breed dogs typically have just as much stamina as larger dogs, but they have shorter legs, so be careful with them. You also should be careful if it is extremely hot and humid.Dogs do not sweat, so they will not be able to handle xercising in extreme heat.

Bicycling with the dog works a lot better for people that are unable to go on intense runs. Getting on a bike will make the workout easier for you without having to sacrifice the dog’s fun. This is also a great option if you have a dog that loves to run at full speed all of the time. You will be able to easily keep up on the bike instead of having your arm pulled out its socket as the dog exuberantly sprints. Roller skating will also provide the same benefits for you and the dog as bicycling.

A lot of dog breeds instinctively know how to swim as soon as they get in water. This make them the perfect companion the next time you want to take a dip in the pool. Do not forget to put a safety vest on your dog before they get in the water. This will let them use their natural swimming skills without expending a lot of energy. Keep an eye on the dog the entire time, and get out of the pool before they start to look tired. .An inground swimming pool costs a lot less than you think, so do not let your expenses keep you from having a great time with your dog in the water.

Fetch ?

Dogs are genetically predisposed to love playing fetch . The act of catching something and giving it to their owner just gives them a lot of joy. Luckily, there is a way to get a decent workout while playing this fun game with your dog. Chase the dog to the ball or stick every time you throw it. Since dogs get so much joy out of retrieving items, it is best to let them win the race every time. The dog will be able to play fetch for a very long time, so you will get a great workout before they get tired.

Kayaking is a great activity, and you can tailor it to your physical abilities. You decide the waters you want to explore, and that determines how many calories you will burn. The only problem with kayaking is that it can be a lonely activity. If you do not want to enjoy the beautiful weather all alone, then take your dog on your next kayaking trip. It will not take very long to train the dog to calmly sit in the kayak, and they will absolutely love seeing new sights on the open water. Since you do not want to endanger the dog, it is best to do this fun exercise on a calm and shallow water source.
