3 Ways To Keep Your Home From Smelling Like Your Pet
As pet owners, we love our pets! We love letting them come inside to play and cuddle with us,
and spending as much time with them as we can. Our pets become more than animals living
inside our homes, they become a part of the family that we simply could not imagine life without. What pet owners could do without, however, is the odor that our beloved pets leave behind everywhere they go in our homes. Whether it be walking through a carpeted living room or getting up from being curled on the couch, a pet just leaves behind a smell that only animals
have, and as a homeowner, that smell can be frustrating. These tips and tricks are quick and
easy, but if you’re pet odor is a little worse it may take some more powerful methods than these.
Utilize baking soda!
Every pet owner on the planet should have a good stock of baking soda in their homes. It is a
great tool to naturally clean your home and get rid of smells in general, and when it comes to
pet odors, it is one of the best things to use to get rid of them. Not only is baking soda a great
tool to get rid of smelly pet odors, but people also love it because it is SO easy to use. All you
have to do is sprinkle the baking soda around where the smell is, let it sit for about ten to twenty minutes, then vacuum it right up. While it sits in the affected area the soda literally absorbs the odors out of the area so when you get the vacuum, the odor goes into the vacuum along with the odor. is also a cleaning agent that does not have a smell of its own, so once it is vacuumed up, the living area is totally neutral with no odors left behind from either the soda nor your pet!
Bathe and brush your pet on a regular basis
Pet dander is one of the leading causes of pet odors in the home, and most pets have a lot of it
naturally. The only way to help manage pet dander and decrease the amount that gets into your
home is by regularly bathing and brushing your pet. To get rid of pet dander completely, it is ?
usually recommended that you bathe your pet at least twice a month, if not once a week, to get the dander off and keep it off. Bathing your pets often helps reduce the amount of dander they produce by 80% and keeps them smelling fresh despite the remaining dander they produce. You can easily go to a local pet store and find shampoos and brushes that are made specifically for getting rid of dander and leaves their fur coats shiny, healthy, smelling good, and strong enough to not easily release the dander.
Keep an air purifier
Perhaps the easiest solution to getting rid of daily pet odors so you don’t have to do daily
cleaning or wash your pet every day is to simply get an air purifier that plugs into your wall and
goes off automatically. This will keep your home smelling good all throughout the day without
any work required on your end, and there are many air purifiers on the market these days that
are HEPA approved so your pet is totally safe during usage! These HEPA approved purifiers are
also specially made to pull out pet odors and dander from your home to keep it smelling fresh
and clean without you having to lift a finger!
